Local Farmers’ Markets

Held on the first Saturday of every month starting 3rd February 2024 the Helston Farmers Market will return – see their Facebook page for more details

The Godolphin Cross Farmers Market is held on the second Saturday of every month from April to December – see their website for more details.

Cornwall Heritage Trust are holding a public consultation day to share people’s thoughts after their recent acquisition of Tregonning Hill. There will be tea, coffee, and cake available. Local mining history specialist, Stephen Polglase, will be giving free guided walks at 10:30am and 1pm (please note: there is a capacity of 15 people per walk). Trevithick Day – Camborne, Saturday 27th April 2024

Whilst we don’t condone the resumption of the potentially heavily polluting and damaging mining industry in our duchy we can certainly appreciate the ingenuity of the steam engines and mine engines of days gone past, not to mention the grit and bravery of miners past – Trevithick Day is a fun day out for all the family and has lots to entertain.

Helston Flora Day Our local town has held the Flora Day and Hal-an-Tow celebrations for centuries and marks the end of winter and the coming of the summer. If you’ve never been don’t miss it. Make sure you enjoy a pint of Spingo at the Blue Anchor while you watch the festivities.

Tom Gatehouse : The Heart of our Earth – Friday 17th May 2024 Carleen Village Hall at 7pm

Tom Gatehouse How to Stop a Mine Flyer

Presentation by Tom Gatehouse at at Carleen Village Hall talking about the struggles of protesters against the mining industry around the world, many of whom face death and displacement at the hands of ruthless mining companies.

Bodkin Theartre – “Bike” at Carleen Village Hall Saturday 18th May at 7.30 pm

Bodkin Theatre are a Cornish performance art theatre company who specialise in unpicking stories old and new and running their own narrative through them.

They will be performing Bike in the village hall. The show is suitable for 14+.

Tickets are available from Dugg on 01736 763 457 and are Adult £10, Under 18’s £8 and Family of four £30.

Cornwall Open Studios : Saturday 25th May to Sunday 2nd June 

Featuring four of our local artists in Trew but also there will be open studios all around Cornwall. Open Studios also have a Facebook and Instagram page if you want to be kept up to date on the activities.

Local artists from Trew that will be displaying are:-
Anthea Bowen (creative ceramics) and Emlyn Glamor-Harris(carved wooden spoons) will be showing their work at Hilltop Studios TR13 9QN and will be open 11.00 – 4.00 Saturday 25th May until Sunday 2nd June, but closed on Friday 31st May.

Richard Horner (marine artist) and David Harrison (sculptor) will be showing their work in Trelawney Studio, TR13 9QW, and will be open 11.00 – 5.00 Saturday 25th May till Sunday 2nd June. David’s larger works are on permanent display at “Trew Green Sculpture”, a Google Map Destination.

Royal Cornwall Show – Thursday 6th to Saturday 8th June 2024

Cornwall’s greatest agricultural and cultural fair is a must see which features all of Cornwall’s proud agricultural heritage and much, much more. Held at the Royal Cornwall Showground near Wadebridge.

Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival – Friday 14th – Sunday 16th June 2024

This ever-popular event brings singers and audience from far and wide to Falmouth and is a great weekend of sea shanties, food and drink. There’s always a great atmosphere and plenty of live acts at the Falmouth sea shanty festival including Cornwall’s own Fisherman’s Friends.

The Golowan festival is a ten day midsummer celebration of arts, performances and culture in and around Penzance with the highlight being the Mazey Day parade.

Carleen Tea Treat – Saturday 3rd August 2024

The Great Wheal Vor Community and Environment Group (GWVCEG) together with the Carleen Village Hall Committee are proud to present again the 2024 Carleen Tea Treat – fun for all the family with saffron buns, pasties, flag making competition, kids games and entertainment, Silver band and procession, serpent dance and a fantastic knees up with live music into the evening.
