Electronic Equipment Recycling Event Update

Electronic Equipment Recycling Event Update header

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting our event last October which we believe was highly successful and has demonstrated how, with effort, we can repair, re-use, recycle responsibly thus reducing the burden of metal and mineral mining on our ecosystems. Thanks to your collective efforts we recycled over half a tonne of electronic equipment.

We are pleased to report that we have discovered a similar data wiping and repair service in Cornwall and we are working to establish a collection and certificate issue process with them. Watch this space! (click the subscribe link to join our mailing list be automatically notified)

I am pleased to say that all the electronic devices that we collected for data wiping have been wiped and certificates issued. Our ID labelling system that we discussed with CPR turned out to be incompatible with their own Asset Tracking system and we are unfortunately unable to issue individual certificates to each person without going through a long and protracted process.

As a result, we are asking for your help by publishing a copy of all the certificates issued, If you brought along devices and would like to find the certificate for the equipment you brought and satisfy yourself that your data has been deleted please click this link to view the certicates and find your device. If you are unable to do this or are unhappy with this request, then please contact us. We have all the receipts available and will do our best to pair up your equipment with the certificate.

We have been assured that all devices sent by the GWVCEG to CPR that can or need to be wiped have been wiped so if you have not found your particular mobile phone etc. then it is reasonable to assume that it has been properly wiped and recycled.

Please accept our apologies for this administrative upset. This was the first time we’ve undertaken this task and will revise our procedure for next time.

Our group believes that this is a sustainable way forward and if you would like to be kept up to date with our events and activities and also a regular newsletter, please feel free to sign up to our mailing list.
